Make Your Dog's Day

I work a lot and it sucks. But it probably sucks more for my dog, who is an incredibly sweet and crazily energetic lab. I've been hiring dog walkers on and off, especially when things get hectic at work, so I was really excited when my co-worker sent me a link to SocialBuy's newest Day of the Deal from Your Dog's Best Friend, which is a dog training/walking practice. So now my dog will get her day of the deal with the voucher I just bought which is $50 for a Consultation and 5 Dog Walkings from Your Dog's Best Friend. This day of the deal would actually cost $125, so this is a pretty legit deal, and I can feel a little less guilty about leaving for work every morning.

Chillin with the Children

I babysit and nanny a lot and I'm always looking for a Day of the Deal that can amuse the kids at a cheap cost. I just found this deal online at SocialBuy.com: $25 for admission for five to the Bay Area Discovery Museum ($50 Value.) So this place is located at the bottom of the Golden Gate Bridge in a national forest and is an indoor/outdoor museum/playground/interactive education place for kids. It's amazing and allows the kids to really shape their own experience, not to mention that the views of the Bridge are spectacular. There are science exhibits, performances, and hands-on art studios. You can seriously let the kids run free for this Day of the Deal and just chill out and watch them have fun. Check out this Day of the Deal at SocialBuy.com

Music and Beer = My Dream Date

So summer is coming. And that means it's time to blast the music and have a drink outside. So for my Day of the Deal, I'm checking out Tributefest On May 1 and SocialBuy is offering a deal for only $20 for an admission ticket, which is a $40 value. The people who are putting it on are the same people who put on the Los Angeles Sake Festival, Septemberfest, the Orange County Beer Festival and the Los Angeles BBQ Festival. Talk about legit. This Day of the Deal is featuring tributes to Sublime, Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, The Who, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Queen, U2, Beatles and Aerosmith. The Tributefest is at the Santa Clarita Central Park - the perfect location to enjoy one or more of the 30 beers on tap.

Get Cultured at the Hammer

I love getting cultured. And I love getting cultured for free - which is why I love the Hammer Museum in Westwood, because all their programs are free. For my Day of the Deal this week, I am attending a documentary screening on April 1 and following the screening, there is a Q and A with the director, which is always super-interesting. This week, "What's On Your Plate?", directed by award-winning Catherine Gund, covers kids and food politics in the New York city area. In the wake of "In the Defense of Food" and "Super-Size Me," this hot topic deserves our attention, and this documentary is supposed to be clever and funny. I'm so excited to check it out and hear the director's thoughts, not to mention that the Hammer has a great happy hour. (I love when my Day of the Deal includes alcohol - love it.) That is why the Hammer Museum always has a spot for my Day of the Deal.

Have Some Ghostly Fun!

I just need a pick-me-up. Something fun to look forward to. Something random. Something memorable. For my Day of the Deal, I could fly to Paris or I could do something a little closer to home. I found a deal on SocialBuy.com for an admission to the San Francisco Chinatown Ghost tours for $15, and it is normally $24. It was voted #1 for "Favorite Things to do in San Francisco." You are led through Chinatown by lamplight by a very experienced guide and it's super-creepy and fun, but also fascinating. It's a great activity to take your friends on when they come to visit - and with SocialBuy.com, it's a Day of the Deal! When you think Chinatown, I don't think the culture and history of Chinatown usually come up, which is why this is such an amazing Day of the Deal to take advantage of.

A Sports Deal You Can't Miss Out On!

Oh the Day of the Deal. Sometimes you find one so good, that it will literally make you the coolest person around. Like the Day of the Deal on SocialBuy.com where you can buy a VIP Suite 3-Game Package at the Staples Center for only $300 ($975 value). They're box seat tickets, so... the really nice ones. And these are legit games – like the LA Lakers game on March 21, the Kings game on April 13 and the Clippers game on April 12. Three amazing games in three weeks. That will help me meet my quota of a fun month. You can also get pre-game photos on the ice at the Kings game and other strange-but-nice perks. I mean, this is an AMAZING DEAL. It would make a great gift and you’re saving hundreds to dollars, HUNDREDS. What more could you ask for? (With the exception of meeting Khloe Kardashian at the Lakers game?) Go get your Day of the Deal!

I'm kind of in love with Justin Bieber - don't judge

So excited for this weekend and my Day of the Deal. I just bought a voucher on SocialBuy.com for $14 for 3 games of bowling & 3 shoe rentals at Jillian's Hi-Life Lanes, which has a $29.50 value. First of all, I love bowling and good food. My little sister is also ecstatic because Jillian's is where pop sensation and hottie-to-be Justin Bieber just filmed his last music video. Ok, I admit it, he kind of is a hottie now. Six years really isn't that much of an age gap is it? So my little sis, her friend and I are going with a couple of my friends to enjoy an afternoon of indulgence with our Day of the Deal. You can really never go wrong with bowling, it's such a nostalgic and family-friendly activity. So go redeem your Day of the Deal.

Finally, I can go shopping!

I love a Day of the Deal that spans the sunny Los Angeles weekend, which is what the Harmony Lane Annual Clearance Sale is. From now to Sunday at 189 S. Wilshire, you get 70% off anything in the store, from Earnest Sewn jeans, Park Vogel, Dita Eyewear and CC Skye. So I was just thinking to myself that I have absolutely nothing to wear and so I'm so down to go and spend my entire paycheck, no joke. A Day of the Deal that lasts the weekend and will supply me with a wardrobe till the end of the summer? Yes, please. I would invite you to go, but I don't want you to steal all the good buys at this Day of the Deal, sorry 'bout it.

Rummaging for Apartment Decorating

You know me - always on the hunt of the Day of the Deal, which consists of San Francisco daily deals as well as ones in Los Angeles. And for my next Day of the Deal (which is this weekend,) you will find me at the Oakland Museum Women’s Board White Elephant Salem, which is at Lancaster and Glascock St. It's the biggest rummage sale in Northern California and they 17 departments and sell everything from old bikes to art to books to vintage clothing to jewelry. Sounds like a stupendous Day of the Deal to me! Plus, everything is super-cheap and I'm redecorating my apartment and so I wouldn't mind browsing for that sort of thing. It's on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Yay hitting multiple birds with one stone. I love the Day of the Deal!

The Burger Joint for Grown-Ups

When I was little, I would always get a craving for McDonald's cheeseburger. Now that my tastes have matured, I love checking out more grownup burger places. On my Day of the Deal, I found a San Francisco restaurant deal on SocialBuy.com for $10 for $20 worth of yummy food and drinks at Burger Bar, which is in Union Square on Geary Street. I checked it out last night when I redeemed my Day of the Deal. I order the peppercorn burger which, in addition, to some fresh peppercorn, included spicy Dijon mustard - mmm. It was a juicy and unique burger and incredibly satiating. I followed it up with a custom hazelnut chocolate milkshake. So good, I almost died. Go get your Day of the Deal at Burger Bar on SocialBuy.com.

Skiing for Cheap!

Last week, my friend Alison went up to Mt. Baldy to hit the slopes. And I was super-jealous after she told me about her amazing time skiing. So in search of my Day of the Deal I found cheap Mt. Baldy lift tickets on SocialBuy.com - only $32 for 1 Weekday Lift Ticket from Mt. Baldy Ski Lifts, which is normally $64. I'm going to take advantage of my Day of the Deal next Friday and take a mini-vacation from work. Not to mention that skiing is also a great workout and then I can curl up with a hot toddy in the evenings with my friends. Perfection! My Day of the Deal includes both a physical workout and a mental relaxation. Not to mention you can snowboard and there bunny slopes and also the highest vertical drop in all of California. Legit!

It's Never Too Early to Buy A Wedding Dress

There is not a more exciting day than your wedding, but weddings are expensive. So why not make your wedding day your supreme Day of the Deal? It may be early in your planning process, you may not even be engaged yet, or even found a possible husband. But all that is negligible if you have the perfect dress. So why not take advantage of the most fun Day of the Deal ever and go to the Joanna August sample sale, where you can buy off-the-rack wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses. Yay wedding dresses for cheap! Yay Los Angeles weddings! It's on Saturday, so you have time to coerce your bestie to go. It's at 427 S. Lucerne Blvd., between W. Fourth & W. Fifth Street and it starts at 10 am. It's the best way to combine your special day with a Day of the Deal.

Red Velvet = Smiles

I have a major sweet tooth. I worship the Sugar God. And in LA, satiating that sweet tooth can get expensive. So about a year ago, I became an addict - to Sprinkles Red Velvet cupcakes. And at $4 a pop, that's a pretty expensive habit to pick up. So I went on a search for the Day of the Deal to cure myself of my addiction to overpriced cupcakes. And I found my Day of the Deal at the local Ralph's. It's funny because my friend had to coax me into trying the individually sliced red velvet cake from the bakery aisle. It changed my life. The moist, rich cake with the perfect cream cheese frosting. It was my birthday all over again. And it's like two bucks cheaper. Yes. Go me and my Day of the Deal.

Radical Deal at Radical Tan

Instead of a Day of the Deal, what if I propose a Week of the Deal? I just bought a voucher from SocialBuy.com for Radical Tan. For $20, you can go to Radical Tan every day for the week (you can only tan once every 24 hours, just FYI.) But the value is actually $69, so I'll be saving a lot; again, so much more of a Week of the Deal, instead of the Day of the Deal. After the last couple of weeks of rain and fog and just lack of sun in general, my skin needs a little push to look less like a zombie and more like I have been sunbathing in Antigua. Thus, I am happy for the opportunity to go to a clean and efficient place in SF and bask in warmth until I am less pale and have a glow that isn't pasted on with Bare Escentuals bronzer. I am very happy, indeed, with my Day of the Deal.

Music Mania: Local Natives

So sometimes the Day of the Deal doesn't have to be something you put on or eat. Sometimes, it can be something you just consume, like music. I just downloaded the Local Natives' Gorilla Manor on iTunes and at $7.99, it's made my Day of the Deal. Great music from an amazing band that I will now play on repeat until my iPod breaks down. I also like that they are going to be famous one day and I knew them before the whole world did. (I even worked with them in college - don't be jealous.) Sometimes Day of the Deal can be fleeting or superficial, but music is something that will last forever and after being inundated by "Bad Romance" for weeks on end, I need a change.

Eyes are the Window to the Soul...

So mine need to look bomb and preferably take advantage of the Day of the Deal. So I bought this voucher for Lash Lab in San Francisco for $50 worth of services for $25. Go Day of the Deal! Uh. Amazing. I went in and got the Wink-Wink treatment and I feel pretty, oh so pretty. Plus, Lash Lab is adorable and the employees are so attentive. I was in and out and felt perfectly pampered the whole time. And the best part is that I didn't have to spend a fortune with my Day of the Deal. I'm basking in my own thriftiness. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bat my new lashes.

Yogurt = Happiness

Sometimes a Day of the Deal isn't some astronomical price cut on something that you kind of like or kind of need, but you take advantage of that Day of the Deal because it's there. But one of my go-to purchases that is always amazing is a trip to Yogurtland. They never have sales and their specials consist of a new flavors, but that doesn't stop them from making a Day of the Deal whenever I go. I can choose exactly whatever combination I want - flavors of yogurt, fruits and toppings. You can never go wrong and you can spend just as much as you want and you always feel satisfied. Yogurtland always makes a Day of the Deal.

Yay Va-cay! Kind of...

Since I don't have a Valentine's Day date, I'm going to sit here at work and day-dream about what my dream date would be. I know, it's pathetic. I'm even going to give my imaginary boyfriend a Day of the Deal and suggest he go on SocialBuy.com and purchase the gondola ride in Huntington Beach ($39 for an $80 package.) How adorable is that for a Day of the Deal? See, I'd be such a good girlfriend, I'd pitch you cute and affordable gift ideas for Valentine's Day. You really can't get any better than that Day of the Deal. Who wouldn't want to go on a little mini-vacation on Valentine's Day instead of doing the overpriced restaurant again? So... any takers?

The New Cure-All: Frozen Yogurt

Ugh. I woke up with a sore throat this morning, which is kind of good because now I have an excuse to take advantage of the Day of the Deal and go to YoCup San Francisco. I found this deal on SocialBuy.com where I can buy a voucher for $5 and buy $10 worth of frozen yogurt. I probably won't eat that much fro-yo today, but even a little bit will soothe my aching throat. The Day of the Deal just saved my voice I'm pretty sure and helped me get in at least one of my servings of fruits. Frozen yogurt is just an amazing invention, and brightens a dreary day instantly. Pretty sweet Day of the Deal.

Caffeine Makes Me Happy. Duh.

I'm not really the cooking type, especially in the mornings. I don't even have the energy to pour a bowl of cereal without my morning coffee. Pathetic, I know. So I used mosey down to Starbucks and I get my latte and inevitably a pastry and spend like $7 and feel a pang of guilt. But then the corporate Gods smiled down upon me and granted me the Day of the Deal: Starbucks pairings. Starting at $3.95, I can get my non-fat latte and my coffee cake with a 20% savings. And they have other options too, like oatmeal or breakfast sandwiches. Yum. And those savings adds up to a life-changing end of the week cocktail on Friday. Day of the deal, for sure. Well, actually, with the Starbucks pairings, it like a Day of the deal for every day of the week. And that makes me happy.

So I'm Broke. Again.

Day of the Deal. It has been my New Year's Resolution to save money so I can travel more and so making everyday a Day of the Deal has been of utmost importance. I try to save money on morning coffee, the gas for my car, on groceries, on dog food. You name it and I will save money on it. It can be frustrating though when I can't make the Day of the Deal, but I suppose there is always another day to find a great price on my cell phone bill or that box of pastries I have to take to the work potluck. Spending money has always been my addition, now with my Day of the Deal plan, I'm trying to make saving money my addiction!

The Perfect Saturday.

So I really wanted to treat myself to a spa day, but let's be real - I can barely afford toilet paper some days. That's why I jumped for joy when I had the Day of the Deal. I got an email for a spa package - including a massage, mani-pedi and facial for 75% off. Yep, 75% off. That's the Day of the Deal for you! And the Day of the Deal actually took place the next Saturday when I relaxed at the spa and came out rejuvenated. I felt like a human again. What's the point of always putting your nose to the grindstone, if you can't enjoy it. Now you can and it is cost effective when you stumble on that Day of the Deal.

Today's Deal

Today on Day of the Deal, we have a Valentine's Day getaway to Puerto Vallarta, courtesy of WhyGo Los Angeles.

This deal has several options and price points, which is nice. For a Los Angeles deal on travel, it's not bad. The article addresses plane tickets (in the $350 range), rates at romantic boutique hotels (as low as $88) and explores the option of taking a cruise (which can be VERY cheap if you book at the last minute).

Keep up with Day of the Deal to find more great deals in Los Angeles on things like travel.

Deal of the Day - coming attractions

Here at Deal of the Day, we're actively hunting down the best daily deals in LA (and around Los Angeles). If you see a great deal somewhere, let us know. Otherwise, sit back and let us do the deal-finding work for you. Day of the Deal will soon be sharing daily features on Los Angeles deals, discounts, coupons, and vouchers. Stay tuned!

Day of the Deal

Day of the Deal is a new site where you can find great daily deals without having to hunt them down yourself.

Lots of people talk about all the great deals there are online. But it's hard to know which ones are legitimate and which ones are just crazy ads that will make you sign up for 17 magazine subscriptions and promise them your firstborn child before you can get anything. So we hunt down the best bargains, discounts, and deals on the internet and compile them here for you. We're looking for great deals on the things you already buy - restaurants, hotels, stores, gyms, spas, clubs, bars, and more. Check back every day to see the latest and greatest of discounts on the web. No more fruitless Google searches for you: we're one-stop bargain shopping.

Why the name? Well, here at Day of the Deal, we believe in the Latin phrase Carpe Diem: Seize the Day. It's not just another day, another deal. It's the day of that deal. And in our professional opinions, you should seize it.
